You’ve probably heard this song before, so we’ll forgive you if you treat it with a healthy dose of skepticism, but, according to Sports Illustrated, Toronto is set to get a second NHL team by 2017.
The news comes from a tweet by Howard Bloom of SportsBusinessNews. He suggests that Las Vegas, Seattle and Quebec City are also set to receive new teams by 2017.
Should Bloom’s information prove to be true, then the move will mean that the NHL will eventually have 34 teams throughout North America and nine in Canada.
Of course, rumours have been suggesting that Toronto is set to get a second team for what seems like ages now. If it does come to fruition, we know a second Toronto team will likely mean more for sports heartbreak. [Via Sports Illustrated]
