Toronto police encourage safe Internet use

The Toronto police is urging parents and children to behave responsibly online.

To commemorate the worldwide 10th annual Safer Internet Day, Det.-Const. Michelle Bond, of the Child Exploitation Unit, told 680 News about the importance of cautious online behaviour, on Tuesday.

According to Bond’s interview, children become more daring on the Internet because they feel a sense of safety, and power in their anonymity. However, many are unaware of possible long-term consequences or repercussions of their online actions.

“We try to teach our children not to talk to strangers,” said Bond, to 680 News. “But it’s also there in the cyber world.”

An online behaviour resource guide is being developed by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection — and other Canadian law enforcement agencies — to educate the public, and particular teenagers and parents, about using the Internet and smartphones in a safe manner.

More snow coming soon

Get ready for some more snow in Toronto! A new weather report is calling for up to 10 to 15 centimetres of additional snow in the GTA, starting on Thursday night.

A few flurries are also expected for Wednesday, according to 680 News.

The change in weather can be attributed to two weather systems, and sources of moisture, which are approaching the GTA.

Jennifer Lawrence + John Stamos?

In Jennifer Lawrence’s world, John Stamos is the coolest celebrity — and how can you blame her?

The Silver Linings Playbook star stopped by Conan last night and shared the story of her favourite celebrity run-in thus far.

“He was at a party, and I turned into a perverted guy,” saidLawrence. “I was following him into rooms and staring at his ass. I lost my mind.”

But, Entertainment Weekly writes that Lawrence did not even want to meet Uncle Jesse himself, out of self-preservation. Yet, her friends forced her to say hi.

“I started really freaking out and he asked me if I was on mushrooms and I said, ‘No. I’m dead sober. This is just me,’” saidLawrence.

Yes, she’s certainly relatable. Wouldn’t you have the same reaction to meeting John Stamos at a party?
