Sign this Petition to Turn the CN Tower into a Goal Light for the Leafs' Playoff Run
Marketing student Scott Booth wants the world's biggest hockey fans to have the world's biggest goal light

You probably already know that on Saturday, the Toronto Maple Leafs ended a nine-year playoff drought when they beat the Ottawa Senators to secure a post-season berth for the first time since 2004. For hockey-fans, this a big deal. Marketing student Scott Booth wants to make it an even bigger deal by turning the CN Tower into a goal light that would turn red every time the Leafs score in the post-season. He’s asking for the public to show their support for their team and their city by signing an online petition asking the CN Tower, the City of Toronto, Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment and even Budweiser, who have been pumping their in-home goal lights in a massive ad push this season, to help make it happen.

On his Change.org petition page, Booth writes:

Question: How can we show the world just how big of fans we really are, while also paying our respects to the boys in blue who got us here, and uniting the entire city, allowing them a way of following along with what is sure the be a very exciting playoff run?

Answer: WITH THE BIGGEST GOAL LIGHT OF ALL TIME: THE CN TOWER!!!”

The recent George Brown College grad adds at the bottom, “p.s. Budweiser, you should have already thought about this. If you got room on your marketing team, I just graduated :)”

The CN tower has changed colours for special events before, like when it shone orange in tribute to Jack Layton on the night of the late NDP Leader’s funeral.

Toronto Standard endorses this idea whole-heartedly and we commend Booth for his ingenuity, as we’ve always advocated for more information to be disseminated via buildings. We also like hockey. We encourage our readers to support this worthy cause.

Sign the petition on Change.org.
