Harry Rosen recently featured Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau in an ad for their upcoming sale. The spot features a dapper Trudeau descending the staircase in the House of Commons bragging, “I guess you’ve heard. I’ve been invited to Harry Private Sale.” According to Trudeau’s office the image was used without authorization. The ad has already been sent out on flyers across the country, hopefully to your doorstep.
This is not the first time Harry Rosen has used an unauthorized image of a Canadian politician, as their advertisements previously featured Finance Minister Jim Flaherty back in 2007, and Stephen Harper last year in 2012, with a caption that read “I get by with a little help from Harry’s Private Sale.”Harper responded to the ad, claiming: “Harry’s going to run out of friends if he doesn’t ask for permission to use their images.” All of these ads were followed by a donation to the politicians’ local ridings by Harry Rosen.
No word yet on whether or not Mayor Ford will be featured in the next ad.
