Don’t miss your chance to do some good while having a good time at this Thursday’s Building Dreams fundraiser in support of Habitat for Humanity Malawi. From 7-11 p.m., the public is invited to The Burroughes (639 Queen St. West) to purchase artwork, take part in silent and live auctions and raffles, enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while mingling with other Torontonians.
Today, four out of five families in Malawi live in substandard homes. With a 61 per cent likelihood of becoming a single mother by age 45, many of these families are single mother households. Without assistance, the poor living conditions put families at high risk of contracting diseases and perpetuate the cycle of poverty to the next generation. It costs less only $4600 to build a Habitat house in Malawi. With that relatively small amount of money, the lives of an entire family are significantly improved.
Tickets for the event are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Learn more at thedreambuild.com.
