Usain Bolt goes for gold in 200m race
Accepting his second consecutive gold medal in the men’s 100-metre race on Monday, Usain Bolt will try to do it again in the 200-metre final later this week, shattering Olympic history.
Bolt joins Carl Lewis as the only men to ever take home back-to-back golds in the 100-metre race. As part of his quest to become a “living legend,” the 25-year-old plans to do the same in the 200-metre race, an unprecedented Olympic feat, reports CBCSports.
The Jamaican sprinter won Sunday’s 100-metre final with a time of 9.63 seconds, the second-fastest in history, and a new Olympic record. Bolt will race in the Men’s 200-metre qualifiers on Tuesday. The semifinals will occur on Wed., with the finals on Thurs.
Natalie Portman’s wedding
A vegan wedding! A Rodarte dress! The hora! Academy Award-winner Natalie Portman married her longtime beau, and Black Swan co-star, Benjamin Millepied in a traditional Jewish ceremony in Big Sur, Calif., on Saturday.
The 31-year-old wore a crown of white wildflowers in her hair, and a white, custom-made dress by Rodarte, the same design team who created Portman’s memorable purple 2011 Oscar gown and Black Swan costumes. Millepied, 35, wore a midnight blue tux. Surrounded by roughly 100 guests, including their 13-month-old son Aleph, the couple wed underneath a Jewish chuppah adorned with twigs.
Held at a private residence, PEOPLE reports the wedding featured a Klezmer band, a vegan-friendly menu, and the couple danced to a 20-minute hora. Other notables in attendance? Ivanka Trump and Macaulay Culkin. Mazel tov!
