BADBADNOTGOOD is actually pretty good
Three locals have spawned a less-ominous offshoot of Odd Future's music that’s safe for bougie consumption

You know Odd Future? The rap guys from California who record divisive music with knee-jerk-deplorable themes and bizarre videos? Well, they were in town last night for a show at Sound Academy, but if you’re not a rap fan—or maybe just not an Odd Future fan —three locals have spawned a less-ominous offshoot of the group’s music that’s definitely safe for bougie consumption. BADBADNOTGOOD is Matt Tavares, Alex Sowinski and Chester Hansen: Humber College jazz students who’ve managed to rustle up a serious online fan base studiously covering a suite of Odd Future songs, plus other hip-hop favourites. And, if this tweet hints at anything, a collaboration between our boys and the rap crew might be in the works…

Last month, BADBADNOTGOOD played a tiny, rammed debut show at Dundas West bar the Red Light. And last week, a quick fan-favourite got video treatment, cobbled together from live show footage: Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard In The Paint.”
