It is with much sadness and consternation that we must inform you that the Toronto date of the Under The Sun 2013 Summer Tour headlined by Smash Mouth featuring Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Fastball and Vertical Horizon has been cancelled. A reason has yet to be given for the cancellation. At this point, even the guitarist from Smash Mouth doesn’t know why the concert of the year, possibly the decade, has been called off. Torontonians looking forward to what was the most highly anticipated concert of the summer at Echo Beach this Sunday are now shocked, disappointed and confused. One dedicated fan who happens to be this reporter’s roommate said it “feels like [he’s] been kicked in the stomach.”
Here’s some reaction to the news from Twitter:
Hearing that Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray cancelled their Toronto show hurt right in the childhood. THE CHILDHOOD.
Sunday’s Smash Mouth concert was cancelled and I’m very sad but also probably the only person outside of Smash Mouth that cares.
SUGAR RAY/SMASH MOUTH UNDER THE SUN TOUR IS CANCELLED EVERYBODY SIMULTANEOUS MASS SUICIDE AT 4PM PURPLE MONKEY DISH WASHER
Nooo! I-yeeee just want to DIE. MT@torontodotcom: Sugar Ray & Smash Mouth’s performance at the @MolsonCanAmp this Sunday has been cancelled.
WTF?! I know it’s not 1998 or anything, but I’m shaking and crying that the Sugar Ray concert this Sunday is cancelled. BUT GIN BLOSSOMS :*(
Truly a sad day for lovers of 90’s pop rock and the Shrek series of films. Refunds are available at point of purchase.
