An Australian police force has asked the public to stop using the infamously inaccurate Apple Maps after four people went missing. Mildura police reported that several people have been lost, stuck without water in remote areas of shifting sands and soaring temperatures, after following misleading directions that place Mildura miles away from its actual location. Those who follow Apple Maps’ directions to Mildura instead end up somewhere in the Murray-Sunset National Park, up to 70 km away from town. One man was lost for over 24 hours last week.
“Police are extremely concerens as there is no water supply within the Park and temperatures can reach as high as 46 degrees, making this a potentially life threatening issue,” said Mildura police. “Police have contacted Apple in relation to the issue and hope the matter is rectified promptly to ensure the safety of motorists.” [Huffington Post]
