Best Thing On The Internet Today: Joan Ghomeshi
Jian's not even a real person though, right?

While walking recently, a friend relayed a story that had been urking him for a few days.

“I had this weird interaction with Jian Ghomeshi on Twitter while I was watching the Grammy’s on Sunday,” he said.

My brow furrowed.

“Yeah, he was live-tweeting them. People do that. Fine. But for some reason his tweets specifically were pissing me off. He talked about how Adele’s ‘big break’ in North America had been on Q. He talked about how Katy Perry sucked. He at-tweeted Bon Iver like they were friends. He used asteriks for emphasis… This is not Korea… Ugh!”

The story was, admittedly, less than I’d hoped it’d be.

“So I responded with this.” He flashed me his cellphone screen. The tweet read: “@jianghomeshi Your tweets really show your age… And doucheyness.”

“I didn’t think people with 100,000 followers checked messages from random people!”

He was visually perturbed, his eyes wide, his jaws tight.

He released and a breath escaped from his wayward esophocus.

“Then he responded.”

I read through the brief, but satisfyingly embarassing interaction. Embarassing for both parties.

@jianghomeshi: which is why u follow me? 😉
@friendstwitter: I’m in love with CBC, so yeah. You have 2 hours to get me back. Or just tweet me Matt Galloway’s number. 😉
@jianghomeshi: i’m afraid he’s as old as me! 😉

He looked defeated. Drained. Jian had thrust his actual existence upon my poor friend! My friend had had to come to terms with the fact that Jian Ghomeshi, too, sat on his couch watching the Grammy’s wrinkling his nose at Katy Perry.

He was lucky though, because I had a comedy Twitter lined up for him, and it looked like this:

@JoanGhomeshi, according to her Twitter profile is: “Jian Ghomeshi Fan #1. Sex therapist. (in that order, for now) Unofficial archivist of Q on CBC Radio & CBC TV. Caledon, Ontario.”

She’s a wildly open Jian Ghomeshi fan, with a penchant for walking her dog, and the Pre-Raphaelite movement. She followed me randomly the other day on Twitter. I was pleased.

In fact, in a very Jian way, I’d say that this is represents me giving Joan Ghomeshi’s her big break, since, well, she only has 15 followers.
