Canadian Students Are Happy With Their Sex Lives
Though they're a little confused about their relationship status...

Canadian university students have sex, a recent survey says. Seriously! Trojan condoms have funded a survey by the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada (SIECCAN) about the sex habits of about 1,500 students aged 18-24 years, which yielded some interesting results. First and foremost, I’m intrigued by the discrepancy between the men and women’s responses. Throughout the survey it appears that way more women consider themselves to be in a relationship than men, which has three possible explanations: first, that the number of lesbian relationships greatly outweighs those of gay men. Second, there’s a growing phenomena of male gigolos dating multiple women at once. Third, and more likely, that there’s a clear communication breakdown between men and women about just what exactly their relationship is.

On the bright side, 67% of men and 80% of women claimed they were actually happy with their sex lives. I guess Tiresias was right.

Relationship to Most Recent Partner, in %

Unsurprisingly, most university students are sleeping with people who they already know. 49% of men reported their most recent sexual partner was someone that they’re in a committed relationship with, live with, or are engaged/married to. This number is a little higher for women, which rests at 66%.

Current Relationship Status, in %

Once again, these numbers suggest that some students need to sit down and have a serious heart-to-heart about the nature of their relationship.

So while students are mostly happy with their sex lives, how do we square these results with the outcome of a recent survey that suggests Canadian students feel stressed out, anxious, exhausted and overwhelmed by school work?
