Do Make Say Think: What We're Doing This (Long) Weekend (May 17-20)
Beers, bears, bunnies, and more

Catch a screening of Dazed and Confused this weekend as Hot Docs turns into a keg party

No cottage? No problem. From what we hear, they’re all haunted anyways. Here’s what you can do to stay busy in The Big Smoke this (long) weekend. And if none of these appeal to you, you can always hit up your local LCBO, now conflict-free.

Bears: Toronto Zoo Debuts Panda Exhibit

Before #Crackgate, there was #PANDAmonium2013. The media-frenzy is over, and Toronto finally has its very own set of giant pandas, Er Shun and Da Mao. The pair were delivered from China via Panda Express – sorry, FedEx – for the exhibit opening this weekend. Who knows – maybe you’ll even see one sneeze?

When: Saturday, May 18

Where: Toronto Zoo, 2000 Meadowvale Road

How Much: $28

More info here.

Bunnies: Bugs Bunny at the Symphony

Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes presented with a live band. After all, the Space Jam soundtrack is one of the best collection of songs of all time. ‘Nuff said.

When: Saturday, May 18, 7 p.m.

Where: Sony Centre For The Performing Arts, 1 Front Street East

How Much: $39

More info here.

Bougie: Artfest at the Distillery

Artfest will feature 85 artists from across Canada, and will be a great excuse to explore the Distillery to some live musical accompaniment. Plus, it’s all free until you cave and buy something. Hint: go get some ice cream at SOMA!

When: Saturday, May 18 to Monday, May 20

Where: Distillery District, 55 Mill Street

How Much: Free

More info here.

And look: we even have an extensive list of what else is open Monday.

Beers: Kegs and a Movie

Superbad was the chonicle of highschool graduation in the ’80s made twenty years later in the 2000s, just as Dazed and Confused was the chronicle of highschool graduation in the ’70s made twenty years later in the ’90s – ergo, D&C is basically the Superbad of the ’70swhich is basically the American Graffiti of the ’60s. I guess that leaves Project X for the 2010s? I hope not.

Join your fellow classmates this Sunday for a kegger at Bloor Hot Docs Cinema and a screening of Dazed and Confused with some “cold beers and hot tunes.” Plus, with no 9-5 the next day, you can party like it’s May 2-4, 1976.

When: Sunday, May 19. Doors at 8:30 p.m., screening at 9:30 p.m.

Where: Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, 506 Bloor Street West

How Much: $20 ($17 for Bloor Hot Docs Cinema members). Admission includes screening and two drinks.

More info here.
