Do Make Say Think: What We're Doing This Week (February 10-16)
It's love week, and there's lots to do if you're in love and if you're not.

1. HER — Seasonal Affective Disord-HER, Friday, February 10. Every second Friday of the month, the lovely people behind HER throw a party down the street at sexy (?) Mexican restaurant La Perla. The theme this month revolves around SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder (-it is National Psychology Month), so bring your tissues and get ready for some good ol’ songs about crying (or not wanting to, like Mariah).

2. Conversation with Bruce McDonald, Friday, February 10. Once upon a time, I was in a movie by the local man who brought us Hard Core Logo. Or at least I think you can see me somewhere in the crowd during a scene from his most recent work, Trigger. But anyways, I don’t think he’ll be talking about me when he’s at the Drake Hotel on Friday night, but he’ll probably be discussing his upcoming feature on the Montreal band, Stars.

3. Inchoate: Rebecca Cairnes, Saturday, February 11 (exhibit runs until March 10). Rebecca Cairnes‘ disarming black and white photos have graced galleries in her local Toronto and the world over. She will be showcasing her first solo exhibit at Akasha Art Projects until March 10, and it would be wrong of you to miss her disarmingly beautiful photographs.

4. Babe Night Presents: Love Letters, Saturday, February 11. Who doesn’t dream about re-living their carefree youthful elementary school days? Ok, well some of us probably don’t, but this event sounds way too fun. Each person in attendance gets a numbered tag with a corresponding mailbox, and then gets to write valentine’s notes to their lover, friends or drunk strangers you’ll be meeting that night. So get over any hang-ups you have relating to your youth, get drunk be someone’s Valentine (even if it’s just for the night).

5. Chocolate Truffle DIY Workshop, Sunday, February 12. I love food. Sure, you can learn how to make truffles from the comfort of your own home for free, and away from the embarrassment of other people watching you fail, but come on this is way more fun! $25 covers all supplies, all the instructions and even a treat bag at the end!

6. Social Media For Social Good, Monday, February 13. One of the numerous events going on during Social Media Week, this discussion is aimed at helping society re-invent social media. Being held at Pauper’s Pub, the panelist of guests include keynote speaker Laura Berg (creator of My Smart Hands) who will be discussing how viral videos can impact families across the globe.

7. Anne Rice, Monday, Monday, February 13. Making her first local appearance in over 10 years, the infamous author will be discussing her new book, the Wolf Gift at the Toronto Reference Library. This one’s already sold out guys, but that’s not our fault. If you really want to go don’t sit at home in the dark re-reading Interview with a Vampire. Haul it down there and try to get in!

8. Worn Fashion Journal Presents: Heartbreak Karaoke 2012, Tuesday, February 14. I shouldn’t even have to explain this one. Karaoke. Toronto’s lovely WORN Fashion Journal girls. Alcoholic beverages. Now I just need to curate my set list. See you there!

9. Veronica Falls, Tuesday, February 14. Let’s face it, Valentine’s Day blows. So there’s no better way to celebrate then by stopping by the Garrison on Tuesday night to check out UK’s Veronica Falls. Filled with great boy/girl harmonies that hark back to groups of the 50s and 60s, their music is the perfect background for a V Day date, or a single night out.

10. Screening #1: Twice-Told Tales, Wednesday, February 15. For their first screening event in the gallery, O’Born Contemporary has picked 5 local and international artists to embody the contemporary narrative through video works. The event is $15 at the dollar and will be followed by a Q+A with the galleries co director, Lili Huston-Hereterich.
