Ontario is launching consultations on its Youth Job Strategy, a caveat of Ontario’s 2013 budget to help young people find jobs, start their own businesses and connect employers to skilled workers. The program would find mentorship and start-up capital for new businesses, as well as fund industrial research and development as early as September 2013. “We’re partnering with employers, educators, labour and non-profits to ensure that our economy benefits from the full participation of our young people,” Eric Hoskins, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Employment said in a press release. “It’s important not only for our youth today, but for the future economic success of our province.”
If the Liberal budget is passed (which is looking more and more precarious as a result of NDP pressure), the government would invest $295 million over two years to create opportunities for about 30,000 youth.
