A Rob Ford statue, made of butter

Oh my. A butter sculpture of Toronto mayor Rob Ford, reading a Margaret Atwood novel and resting on a steering wheel, made heads turn at the Canadian National Exhibition on Thursday.

The statue is part of the fair’s annual butter sculpting exhibit, and was carved out of nearly 230 kg of butter. Its artist, 24-year-old Olenka Kleban, told the Toronto Star that, “He makes a very good subject.”

“Rob Ford is such a character,” said Kleban, to the Star.It just seemed like a no-brainer. What’s more ‘this versus that’ than Rob Ford versus Atwood?”

The butter exhibition is an annual CNE tradition, held at the Better Living Building. Artists and sculptors alike spend days inside a chilled box, at eight degrees Celsius, to create a piece representative of the fair’s theme.

Though this year’s theme was “under the sea,” the original concept was a this-versus-that type of contest. Coincidentally, the day the infamous (and popular) statue went on display, The Weinstein Company released a trailer for the movie, Butter, starring Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde.

Inspectors find no problems at Marineland

In spite of vivid recounts from former employees, and a large petition, animal welfare inspectors have found no major problems at Marineland.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) and the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) each sent inspectors to tour the Niagara Falls-area park on Thursday. After last week’s expose in the Toronto Star left many doubting the quality of care the animals were receiving at the attraction, the representatives said they found nothing wrong with the health or conditions at Marineland.

Still, the inspectors did confirm that several animals do suffer from eye problems, reports 680 Newsbut said that was due to old age, not their quality of care, or water.

The OSPCA and CAZA reps also found the animals to be under a high level of veterinary care, for pain management, and even research, saying overall that, “the collection’s health looked very good.”

More naked Prince Harry pictures?

Are there more naked pictures of Prince Harry from his Vegas Vacation? A British PR rep says yes.

Max Clifford spoke to BBC television on Friday, saying that two American women have approached him with offers to sell their photographs from a night in a hotel room with the Prince.

Famous for negotiating kiss-and-tell interviews, according to the Washington Post, Clifford is a “key player” in Britain’s largest tabloid scandals. Yet, in this case, Clifford says he turned down the offer to purchase and distribute the pictures, but has not revealed what exactly the photos show, if anything.

Earlier this week, scandalous photos were released of Prince Harry, naked and wrestling with a nude female party guest in his VIP hotel suite, to TMZ
