Blue Jays are Vegas World Series favourites to win
Toronto Blue Jays: Back-to-back-to… Back World Series Champions?
680 News reports Las Vegas oddsmakers have given the Jays an 8-1 chance to win the 2013 World Series, after recently acquiring Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey from the New York Mets.
The team and General Manager Alex Anthopolous have been making strides in the off-season, picking up exciting new prospects and conducting a blockbuster trade to boost both their pitching and infield. The Jays last visited the World Series in 1993, where they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. If the oddsmakers are right, this would be the team’s first trip to the playoffs in as much time.
Dickey, 38, is expected to be the team’s anchor pitcher, according to 680 News.
Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia could not be more excited about the team’s new addition, telling reporters, “I feel like Christmas has come early.”

Instagrams to sell stuff?
Look at this Instagram… Everytime I look at it, it makes me laugh – and, want to buy things? A new Bloomberg report states Facebook Inc.’s Instagram policy changes may let advertisers use photos for their marketing and advertising campaigns, even those belonging to users as young as 13.
This new policy, announced Monday and expected to be implemented by next month, raises privacy and security concerns, as Instagram is particularly popular with a younger audience, and has more than 100 million users.
Facebook “sees teens as a digital goldmine,” said Jeffrey Chester, executive director for the Center for Digital Democracy, to Bloomberg. “We will be pressing the Federal Trade Commission to issue policies to protect teen privacy.”
It is unclear how Canadians will be impacted by this proposed change in policy.
Fallon to replace Leno?
Here is your daily case of deja vu: NBC is reportedly looking to replace The Tonight Show‘s host Jay Leno with Jimmy Fallon, who currently hosts the network’s Late Night show.
The NY Daily News writes, “The latest rumblings about Leno come from various talent agents who admit they have quietly been contacted by NBC officials hoping to find a new late-late host who will eventually take over Fallon’s 12:35 a.m. time slot.” The longtime Tonight Show host’s contract is up in 2014, the same time as his CBS rival, David Letterman. Starting in January, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel will host his late night show at 11:35 p.m. EST, instead of his current time of 12:05, making him a direct competitor to both Letterman and Leno, and perhaps prompting the peacock’s younger vision.
In 2009, a similar deal to take over The Tonight Show was proposed to Conan O’Brien, who hosted for close to nine months before being ousted by NBC in favour of Leno. At the time, Leno was given the 10 p.m. slot for a unique late night show opportunity, which crash and burned in the ratings, and critically, too.
