York Street closed north of Front Street

York Street will be closed to motorists for up to 10 months due to PATH pedestrian network-related construction work, reports 680 News.

The closure will run north from Front Street to Piper Street, and northbound driver traffic will be redirected to University Avenue. Meanwhile, 680 News writes York Street will transform into a two-way street between Wellington and the construction area, and local access will be available through a new Wellington Street eastbound lane.

This project is associated with the Union Station revitalization project, and pedestrian access will be unaffected by this additional construction.

Toronto Indiegogo campaign saves cat

A Toronto-based Indiegogo campaign has helped an ailing cat regain up to 80 per cent of its health, as a result of online donations.

North York couple Alex and Vicky Ba discovered the stray cat, Tigress, outside their home on Jan. 23 in -20 C weather.

Veterinarian Dr. Jasvir Salhan and his clinic agreed to treat Tigress, but told the Toronto Star, “When I saw her, I thought the cat was dead. … There was basically no skin left on her neck and side. I could see all the internal organs.”

The Bas then started an Indiegogo campaign to pay for Tigress’ medical care, and have since raised $2,270 to cover the cat’s health expenses.

Donations were modest until the online Watchcat Coalition organization heard of the campaign, but the collected sum helped pay the feline’s doctor bills, and Tigress is now able to play and move.

Nice job, Internet!

Emma Stone’s weird anagram

What’s going on at the set of Amazing Spider-Man 2?

Sparse celebrity tweeter Emma Stone posted a bizarre anagram to Twitter on Saturday afternoon, and then promptly removed it after it was decoded on Perez Hilton.

The message read, “nawder nad islasehne tsintgi ni a erte,” which is an anagram of “Andrew and Shailine sitting in a tree.” Stone’s on-and-off-screen beau, Andrew Garfield, just started shooting scenes with new co-star Shailene Woodley last week.

But is there trouble in paradise for Stone and Garfield? Since the Huffington Post reports the couple was spotted arm and arm in New York a day earlier, it seems this message was merely fun wordplay.

Still, thanks for making anagrams happen, Emma Stone — we appreciate it.
