NXNE has got themselves a new festival director — Christopher Roberts of VICE. Roberts was born in Ottawa and attended Carleton University there before heading off to New York where he’s been Head of Artist Relations at VICE Records for the past 7 years. He’s credited with signing bands like Team Spirit, The Black Lips, and the Raveonettes to the label. He’s also the Managing Director of VICE’s Experiential Department responsible for managing many music events, like the Creators Project, SCION Garage Rock Festival, and VICELAND at SXSW.
“We are thrilled to add Christopher’s leadership to the NXNE team. He has been crucial in building the VICE brand worldwide and his diverse experience fits perfectly with our ambitious goals to build NXNE into one of the greatest cultural festivals in the world.” said Michael Hollett, President of NXNE in a press release.
This year’s NXNE (June 10th-16th) will feature The National, Big Boi, Social Distortion, and Quebec’s Coeur de Pirate, though the full list of acts will be announced over the next few weeks. To find out who’s performing and to buy tickets, hit up NXNE.com.
