While deciding which bag of chips would make a suitable dinner, it hit me. With the weight of a dozen reindeer falling from the sky, I was struck by the harsh sound of jingle bells and sugar plum fairies as Christmas music began blaring from the speaker directly overhead. Now, I’m all for some holiday cheer, but not before my pumpkins have had a chance to properly rot and my Thanksgiving meal has become a distant memory.
Apparently, I’m not alone. After receiving numerous complaints, Shoppers Drug Mart has decided to turn off their holiday tunes until closer to Christmastime. On Friday, the store wrote on its Facebook page, “Due to recent complaints around the Christmas music being played in stores we want to advise you that as of midnight EST tonight, all Christmas music will be suspended until further notice.”
For now, Shoppers Drug Mart patrons and employees can breathe a little easier knowing that they won’t be enduring the Twelve Days of Christmas for the next two months.
