Not quite a Ford scandal, but Winnipeg mayor Sam Katz has a new scandal over… a piece of gum he threw on a lawn. All of this comes just one week after Mayor Katz wrongfully released a $90,000 ad campaign for his proposal to sell off the city’s golf courses from what appeared to be an unaffiliated third party organization, as the poster lacked the city’s official stamp.
Here’s how the polite Canadian conversation went down:
Mother Kullman: “Excuse me sir, would you mind picking up the gum that you dropped?”
Mayor Katz: “Oh, it’s just a piece of lint.”
[Katz runs away]
Kullman, hot on the case, picked up the piece of gum proving that it was not, in fact, just a piece of lint. Kullman then pursued Katz into his meeting, and demanded to speak to a city official about the matter.
Kullman then explained: “It’s just a piece of gum, but it’s not a piece of gum. It’s an attitude.”
So, you have all of that, and that he accidentally kicked a kid in the face on camera. Classic Winnipeg.
