At the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association Expo in Indianapolis last week, a company called Crestron unveiled a new kind of smartphone. Crestron specializes in control and automation systems, which is exactly what the company’s newest product does. The tablet device can be mounted to a wall and uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Crestron’s tablet allows users to change the settings of every room in their home without leaving the sofa. Looking to turn off the light in your kitchen? Done.
Crestron also partnered with Apple AirPlay to create a product called Sonnex. Sonnex enables users to stream music from an iPhone, Mac or iPad up to 330 feet away without having to switch audio sources. Is a house not a home until it’s a smart home? Crestron seems to think so. [Via Mashable]
