It’s a rare thing in this world of designer collabs to find greatness among hordes of shameless money-grabbing riffraff. Thakoon for NARS Nail Polish, a limited-edition collection inspired by the designer’s Spring 2012 collection and the hues of Indian spice markets, is one of the few gems.
The shades are everything you want for the season: bright, exuberant, and unique. Oh, and like any good summer beauty product, they’re armed with UV protection to prevent polish discolouration. This I can vouch for. I tried out ‘Lal Mirchi'(translation: red chili pepper) before hitting up the pools, mountains, and lakes of Vermont for a week. After seven days of chlorine, sunshine, and God knows what else, the colour remains vibrant and glossy. For tanned toes, I recommend ‘Kutki,’ an icy shade of powder blue that doesn’t get that ‘chalky look’ similar shades by other brands do. Thakoon for Nars Nail Polish retails for $21.00 at the Bay, $18.91 at Saks.
