Uniform Project: Leprechauns
Standard photographer Sarah Blais charms some kilted servers into posing

This week Sarah Blais set out to talk with some of the girls working at Irish pubs for St. Patrick’s day. She got lucky and charmed four into taking a second out of their busy patios and bars for this week’s edition of The Uniform Project.

Debra is a 27-year-old British bartender that has been working at The Pour House Irish Pub for just over a year. At the Pour House the girls are required to wear kilts, knee socks, black shoes and a branded tee. For St. Patrick’s day, Guinness sent out t-shirts and hats for employees to rock, featuring the “I’m with Friendly” tees that Debra has got on in the above photo. She’s looking forward to St. Patrick’s day, knowing they’re going to have a full house.

Soon after,  the rainbow was followed all the way to King west for a stop in with the girls working at The Foggy Dew. On St. Patrick’s day here — the girls will be rocking their regular uniform (kilt, knee socks and Foggy Dew tee) to stand out from people with Guinness shirts, but will be able to dress up their uniform with festive accessorizing. Usually they will put on fun necklaces or do their make-up specially. The kilts here are the same as The Pour House.

Christie has been with the Foggy Dew for the past eight years, and really loves working there. Her favourite drink is Strongbow, and her earrings were stolen from Skye (another server). If she isn’t taking Skye’s things — Christie can be found shopping at Heidi Ho boutique (Yonge and Eglinton), Urban Outfitters (sale rack only), H&M, and craigslist. Last week she got a pair of Hunter Boots that were worn twice for $70 all in. Steal!

Colleen also works at this Irish Pub but has only been there for a couple months. She’s a 21-year-old hostess and actually happens to be part Irish (aren’t we all a little bit?). She’s working the afternoon on St. Patrick’s day and will have her H&M black flats to keep her on her toes. Her favourite kind of beer is Guinness (course!), but after this weekend she’ll go back to Alexander Keith’s (her real favourite).

Skye ‘Squirrely’ is a 27 (going on 12 she says) year-old bartender that has been with Foggy Dew for the past five years. She likes to shop vintage, H&M, Value Village, My Sisters Closet, and Payless shoes (where she got her bad-ass work safety shoes — you know you want these). We got a sneak peek of her acorn tattoo under the kilt too!
