Can I monetize my laziness?
I’m about to find out.
I like to think I’m an idea guy, in that I have lots of ideas. Please note I didn’t say they are all good ideas. Most of them are not. Some of them are downright terrible. I have a design for an ergonomic funnel that is disastrous. But some of them are pretty good. A few might even be excellent. What unites them is I am too lazy to do anything with them. Or not smart enough. Or don’t know enough Spanish.
But mostly it’s because I’m lazy.
So I’ve started this project, Ideas Free to Good Home, where I post ideas I’ve had that I think deserve to exist but know I’ll never do anything with. If you see something you like, please feel free take it and do something with it. If you make a million dollars with it, it wouldn’t kill you to kick some of it back my way. Really, though, it’s about the ideas.
And since I’m lazy, I figure I can even fob off part of the idea generation as well. If you’ve got an idea you think needs to exist, drop me a line and let us know about it. If someone makes a million dollars with it and kicks some of it back, we’ll all get a little taste. Before I even start laying ideas on you, I should remind you: I’m lazy. I have done no due diligence because it involves diligence, so these ideas may very well exist somewhere right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if many of them do. I can’t be that smart. So on to the first idea.
IDEA #1: Dim Sum Cart Tracking
Are there chive dumplings on that cart over there? How many are left? Is the sticky rice ever coming out? This could be an app, of course. But it could also just be a display board like they have at the racetrack that shows the positions of all the horses running. Could RFID tags withstand a trip through the steamer?
