Beauty Myth: Amelia Earhart
Our latest in the series, in which we hand over our favouritest colour cosmetics to a local artist and they paint a portrait of someone they find beautiful. This week: Danielle Meder.

Danielle Meder, the illustrator also known as Final Fashion, knows something of adventure. Last year, she left her blossomed Toronto career for the rockier soil of East London, where she draws fashion and trend-theorizes (mostly on her blog) with a historical perspective. In a very in-character move, she chose mid-century fly girl Amelia Earhart–no painted starlets here–as her icon for our weekly Beauty Myth (in which we hand over our favouritest in colour cosmetics to a local artist or illustrator and ask they paint a portrait of someone they find beautiful). “Lady Lindy” was as winsome as she was pioneering, with a sparse build and cropped, tousled hair. Not unlike Meder herself, come to think of it.

AMELIA WEARS: The hot flush of adventure. Or, Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick in “Peachy Blush” ($21.50 at Sephora), which Danielle loves ’cause it sticks to bare skin.

An element-defying powder–Rimmel‘s Stay Matte–in “Sandstorm” ($9.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart).

YSL La Laque in “Black Blue,” a fresh-leather hue for fall ($26 at Holt Renfrew, 55 Bloor St. W).

THE SKY WEARS: For something like a sunset on your lips, there’s Rimmel‘s Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in “Rosetto” ($8.49 at Shoppers Drug Mart). For eyeshadow try something like L’Oreal Chrome Shine in “Brown Lam.”

To get the adventuress’ super-natural look, Danielle recommends:

Cod-liver capsules, best for skin from the inside out, great for the rest of your health too, and inexpensive ($10.49 for the Jamieson brand at Shopper’s Drug Mart).

YSL‘s magic concealer-wand, Touche Eclat ($50, but worth it, at Holt Renfrew).

To colour the lashes without thickening them, Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara ($18 at Sephora).
