The Holidays Go Pop
We list myriad stylish holiday pop-up shops, and why you should go.

If we had a chocolate loonie for every time we’ve heard the words “holiday pop-up” this month, we’d be really effing sick of chocolate loonies. Here’s the whole day-long list of them, most beginning Thursday, December 1. Update! We’ve added several more shops for the weekend of December 17. But don’t be overwhelmed by choice. Make a list of your top three or four, map them out, and bring cash. Nothing makes a hungover shopper go spend-crazy like the words “three days only.”

Krane Pop-Up Shop at Chasse Gardee. Fantastic man-bags will be sold at 20% off, outerwear at 30% off, for eight great days at the Queen West it-shoe shop. 1084 Queen St. W, 416-901-9613. December 16 – 24.

The Narwhal Pop-Up. The uptown girl’s favourite boutique slums it with Ossington for a weekend. Designer wears at steep discounts. Look for: Acne, Preen, Helmut Lang, Rachel Comey. 104 Ossington Ave. December 15 – 18, 11am – 7 pm.

N/A Christmas Market. The art, etcetera collective throws a superlocal holiday shopping party. With mulled wine! Behind Lula Lounge at Dundas and Brock. Thursday, December 15, 6:30pm – 10pm.

Jessica Jensen Holiday Shop. Stylish leather goods, big and small. Holiday gifts for the ladies in your life made idiot-proof, really. 639 Queen Street West, Burroughes Building, Main Floor. December 2nd – 30th, Monday to Friday 11am – 7pm. Saturday 11am – 6pm. Sunday 11am – 5pm.

Bridge + Bardot
Vintage Clothing Sale. True, everyone and her hairstylist is selling “vintage” (a.k.a. hand-me-downs; circa-2005 Urban Outfitters shoes) to pay the hydro. But these girleens, including one-time Beauty Myth artist Rose Broadbent, have stepped it up a notch by restoring and altering their one-of-a-kind finds. Get your party dresses, and for him? Muttonhead Collective and Varsity Brown wallets. 835 Bloor St. W. Party and presale, December 16, 6:30pm – 9:30pm. December 17 and 18, 9am – 9pm.

Glory Box Pop-up Shop. Our pals Natalie and Abby are hosting this two-day sojourn in bargainland, with up to 75% off on liquidated items from Le Creuset, Pottery Barn, Staub, and Breville, plus clothing from Twenty8Twelve, Tiger of Sweden and more.  In partnership with Modern Salvage Consultants. 37 Bulwer St. between Soho and Spadina. Saturday, December 17, 10am – 7pm, and Sunday, December 18, 10am – 6pm.

69 Vintage Holiday Gift Bazaar. Why you should go: because Bekky O’Neil, Isak & Inger, Hillary Sampliner, Nettie Blanche will be there too. V Concept Store, 198 Walnut Avenue. December 16 – 18, 12pm to 6pm.

Philip Sparks Holiday Trunk Shop, nay, Permanent Shop! Because it’s Philip Sparks and they’ve achieved brick and mortar standards. 63 Ossington, Tues, Wed, Sun, 12pm – 6pm. All other days: 12pm to 7pm. http://philipsparks.com

Fitzroy’s Holiday Pop-Up Boutique. Naturally, a good reason would be the lines Fitzroy carries: Society for Scarves, Ladakh, Psalms 91:1, Brandy Melville, Blaque Label amongst more. But it also says here that for opening tonight, there’ll be “bottomless Christmas punch and an army of gingerbread men.” Military chic! BYOB Bar and Cocktail Emporium, 972 Queen Street West, December 1, 7pm – 11pm.

Diepo x Robber Holiday Trunk Sale. Because wearing pajama bottoms and Uggs was never a good idea. If you know a loved one who owns a Snuggie or plain fancies wearing bedroom attire as daywear, go to this trunk sale and buy them DiepoRobber, 863 Queen St. West, December 1st, 6pm – 10pm (sale continues till December 4th).

LVB’s Pop-Up Shopping Party. Jewellery designer Dalya Nussbaum will be presenting her latest pieces, made from semi-precious stones and hardware. 88 Ossington Avenue, Second Floor, Side Door Entrance. December 7th. 7pm – 10pm

Muttonhead Presents: Loco for Local. As always, everything is made in the GTA:Marlena Zuber’s illustrated maps of Toronto, Fieldguided’s kitty calenders and tote bags,Woo of Cuchara’s jewels for men and women, ChocoSol Traders’ artisan chocolates and of course, Muttonhead’s own apparel and accessories. December 3rd 10am – 6pm.

Rac Boutique Weekend Sale. Monday – Saturday 11am – 7pm. Sunday 12pm – 5pm.
